HI all,

1979 FJ40 Aisen carb that I rebuilt, love ya pin head.
Truck is desmogged. Ran good and normal before I "rebuilt the carb".

Truck binds up when turning the key to fire the engine, then starts.
On cold start, when you turn the key it binds as if the battery is dead or starter is slow and then fires.
There is no normal, whirl ..whirl sound while trying to start as before.

Truck will finally fire and idle as normal. Once warm the binding problem can't be replicated, , carb bowl at half.

This did not happen before the rebuild. Its almost as if the starter is slow or battery is slowly dead on first fire up dead feeling, best I can describe.
Battery is newer, alt is brand new. Starter had no issues before I rebuilt the carb.

Thanks for any insight!

Sure sounds like a battery issue if it runs fine after it starts, I would lean towards a timing issue but You didn’t say You had messed with that.

Checking on both to knock them off the list! Thanks
