Hey I'm new to the board and have a question about the use of the plastic carb insulator block. I am currently running a holley 7448 with a downey adapter plate. What is the purpose of the insulator block? can I just use shorter cap screws and do away with it or does it play some role in the perfomance of the carb? Thanks for the help.

Cheers

The block insulates the carb from the heat transferred through the intake manifold from the head & the exhaust headers. Without it, the gas in the float bowl would boil.
