So my carb cooling fan has been chirping a bit and today I noticed during a run cycle the motor was super hot to the touch. The bearings are definitely cooked.

Anybody attempted to rebuild a carb cooling fan motor? Worth it or possible?

Advice appreciated. This is on an 84 fj60 btw.

Mine had gotten loud so I pulled it apart a while back in an attempt to rebuild and clean it up. What I found was the bushing inside was shot and the motor had a bad wobble. I tried a few different bushings , none of which worked good. Ended up getting a complete, used fan from another MUD member and it works great.

Thanks Rustic. I’ve got an affordable option for a complete fan, didn’t want to pull the trigger if there was a bearing replacement option.

I have a used one in a box (86 fj60) .... make me an offer. shipped from ABQ

I thought Id use it later on a heater upgrade for the rear heater ... different motor altogether ...

New quality (not Chi-comm) aftermarket motors are available. I think 4 Seasons, made in Cananda.
