Agree with @lumbee1. It sounds like the TPS is getting ready to clock out. The 2K RPM at idle in Drive seems to be it's fail safe mode. When you stick your truck in park, it should idle back down to 700- 1000 RPMs. The TPS may or may not produce a CEL.



Yup, @BILT4ME is correct, your truck is relearning it's "throttle map" or something to that effect. It should be fine by now.
@tacocat is correct. After replacing my battery, my truck went nuts on startup. Cruiser was running way rich with high idle. I was sure I bumped some wire or didn't put the alternator belt on. After 10 to 20 seconds, idle came down to normal and she was purring like a kitten.

If the TPS starts to go, stopping a torquey Cruiser idling at 2000 to 2500 rpm with the brakes is not fun. Give yourself lots of clearance. I almost took out my garage door when I brought mine home.
