hi
i have a 93 landcruiser 4500 fuel injection
jerks, shudders violently at 80kph and stops on acceleration
starts at 100kph and stops on acceleration
changed plugs, wires, fuel pump, fuel filter
injectors are very good
i was told its the computer box near the air filter unit
too expensive to risk it
please help

Does it feel like the transmission or engine? Generally severe shuddering is transmission coming into and out of gear,

Is this just after it gets into 4th gear? If so might be torque converter locking and unlocking or trying to.

I'd like to know what you mean by " jerks " ? Is it some kind of pull from the steering or a harsh gear change, or maybe an extra strong acceleration ?

i have an automatic transmission
recently overhauled
if im cruising under 80kph, no problem
the moment i touch 80kph, severe shuddering in the engine
upon acceleration it stops
starts again at 100kph
stop upon acceleration
at top speed very slight vibration on car

where is the torque converter

after the truck warms up sufficiently the shudders disappear
a slight vibration remains
sorry im stumped
my car is jinxed

gear change is fine, while cruising in top gear shudder begins at 80kph
stops upon acceleration
get the drift

it is located where the clutch would be if it were a manual, it transmists the force of the engine to the transmission but allows some slip and does several other jobs includign locking up at higher speeds when this slip is no longer desired.

sorry kph does not mean much to me, waht gear would the transmission be in when driving 80 to 100 kph?

4th gear in auto transmission
or top gear
by the way today on my way to work and back there was no vibration
happens sometimes when the car is in a bad mood

On a US 4.5 petrol, that would be the cruise control box. I suppose it could be the culprit though we haven't had any reports like this here on 'Mud that I am aware of.

Try disconnecting the CC or removing the fuse or something.
