Can you swap full floater innerds into light duty axle housing?

Can you swap 70 series full floater innerds into the housing of the light duty axles, like in 1990, 1991 LJ-78? They both measure the same diameter as far as I can tell.

nah, the LJ has light duty 'mini truck centers and the BJ70 has full size HD center axles...

correct me if i am wrong...

why not just swap spring perches and run the FF?

I figure it would be easier to swap internals than to fab up spring perches and all that stuff since I don't have the means of fabricating all that stuff. I can order factory upper spring and shock tower but not the parts and pieces that are on the axle.

Wayne, today I will check the third member sizes and see if they are the same or not. Don't know if the knuckles welded to the tube are the same size or not. Trying to think of other areas that might be different and not make this possible. Your input is always appreciated

Just look up the parts in the EPC, if they are the same they will fit - if not they won't .

The answer is no.

light duty are 8" (Hilux, Surf, 4Runner style) diffs in the rear, the BJ7* use the full sized 9.5" diffs.

A better swap would be an HZJ73 rear end since it has discs.

There are very few issues with the rear 8" axles/diffs.

Well. I checked the third members and the FF is definitely bigger so no go.
