Can valve cover ports be relocated?

I'm rebuilding my 1FZ-FE and adding a TRD SC. Before re-installation I plan to fabricate an Air-Water intercooler and really need to move the two valve cover ports.

Both the PCV and breather hoses stick up in an area requiring clearance. Anyone know if there's a downside(s) to moving the ports elsewhere on the valve cover (over the #1 or #6 cylinder, for instance)?

I'm not concerned about the obvious headache of cutting & re-welding them - just trying to confirm I'm not overlooking some importance to their current placement.

Thanks,
Jon

If you look at the underside of a valve cover there's a baffle system likely designed in such a way to direct air/vacuum in a specific manner so as not to suck up too much oil, but it does sucks up some, FWIW. No idea how that would affect your plan. Here's a photo:

Nice pic! Remember that if you relocate the ports to a place away from the baffle, there's nothing that a catch-can won't cure. But be aware that your oil mist will end up all in the catch can, and you'll be draining it regularly.

Where are you putting the A2W intercooler? On this last turbo 1FZFE we did, we put the intercooler in the far corner and didn't have to change any of the valve cover plumbing. Pic attached.

Planning for the IC to be directly over the valve cover. Using Laminova cores.

That's beautiful!! Won't work in my application (relocated washer bottle is already in that location), but gives me inspiration to explore locations I hadn't considered.

Thanks,
Jon

Ah, I see you 're doing a supercharger. Overlooked that. If you place the intercooler appropriately, you should still have room to where you wont need to move the ports. Are you having the IC built from scratch, or trying to use a premade IC?

A friend with a mill is helping me build a custom unit. The engine is currently on a stand being rebuilt, so we haven't started work on the IC yet.

Glad you posted that pic before I butchered my valve cover .
