Can I use a Koyo C1917 rad in a '97?

I need to replace my radiator. Koyo specs call for an A1918 radiator for the '97, but apparantly one can get an earlier C1917 radiator with brass tanks, etc, in lieu of it. I have been searching the FAQ's trying to find if they are interchangeable.

Any help appreciated.

Tom

I just put the Koyo C1917 in my '95 last weekend, and it fit perfectly. Cools really well too :)

Thanks for the replies - I went ahead and ordered one today.

Next series of searches/questions will be centered around what fan clutch to put in it (currently has a Schucks special in it, but I believe I have the factory arrangement on my bench...)

The standard c1917 has plastic tanks.

I ordered it from go-parts.com, and now am all freaked out that it will be a counterfeit unit and I'll suffer the headaches of trying to return it, etc.....should have checked the forum posts BEFORE I ordered it. Anyway, when it shows I will report on what's in the box.

Will be on the phone tomorrow ordering a new fan clutch from CDAN..

Mine came from go-parts.com, it was definitely not the "counterfeit" aluminum one. My guess is they had a bad batch, but it seems like the orders lately have been ok.

Radiator showed today and has plastic tanks and 3 row aluminum core. Apparently this is the latest iteration of this radiator. So, install and move forward, or return and try something different?

How can that be the latest iteration? The C in C1917 stands for copper vs the A (aluminum) in A1918. I would argue that's it's not even a C1917.
If it's undoubtedly a Koyo and your comfortable with the price you paid, I'd say keep it. Otherwise raise hell and send it back. Good luck.

Good Point - I ordered a C1917 and the box is labeled as PR1917K....So, I am attempting to return it for credit and get the real deal somewhere else. Good thing this is motorcycle weather and I can ride instead of driving.....

Will keep ya all posted...
