When I got the truck it had 10w30, I was using 15w30, I just put in 20w50 and it runs cooler and smoother. Has anyone run 20w50 in the winter. I assume cold start would be more difficult. Is there anything wrong with doing this?

I use Mobil 1 year around. Mobil 1 has about the same viscosity cold as when hot, and the hard (cold) starts went away with the battery upgrade.

Just my experience.

You can leave it in if you want but I would not. I don't think it gets super cold in NC but your starting will be harder. Also your oil pump has to work much harder to push 20/50 through the system. That goes for all year. I forgot to take it out of my Camaro once as a kid in Wisconsin. Could almost count each cyclinder fire one cold Dec. morning. Now I run 10/40 summer 5/30 winter. Almost all new cars recommend 5/30 year round.
