Yup, it's that time. It's time to check out $500 camping chairs, $450 shower systems and of course, $100 utensil sets made of Titanium. It's also nice to see the latest advancements in camping gear that you thought you'd never need but want.
I'm thinking about going for one day, and not even a full day. After about four/ five hours of walking around the place, I'm on information overload and need to escape. So, for me this event is just a stop on my way to go camping somewhere cool.
Sedona camping and MTB riding is one possibility. I've never actually camped and rode in/near Sedona but it's an idea that came to me. I've driven down Schenby hill in the past and it's a fun way to get to Sedona from Flagstaff vs taking the hwy down. Vermillion cliffs is another area that is worth visiting. The last time we hiked the Wirepass trail in that area, which was off the hook. There are other hikes in this area, and of course, the California Condor has a huge presence in this area that's worth checking out. You haven't seen a large bird until you've seen one of these bad mamajammas. Holy schmoly, the turd they produce gotta be huge.
As of now, I'd like to head out of ABQ, Thurs 4/18 after work (around 1500 hrs + or -) and aim for a spot here: Coconino National Forest - Oak Creek - https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/coconino/recarea/?recid=74376. The last time Larry and I camped there before the Expo, the nights were cold but we were able to have a fire. Since I'm a cold weather wimp, I'll pull the camper with the bike on top. This spot is less that half hour from the expo.
Anyway, that's my tentative plan, which is subject to change. Please post up if there's interest.
