I came out of the camp spot to send out this reply. Pappy got lead astray by using Google maps, maybe he didn't download the offline version. In any case, use the coordinates and punch it into your topo app for a better accuracy, as you get closer to turning off the main highway.

Turn left at the Giant Buddhist monastery sign from the main highway.

Turn right at the small camping sign on a post with a yellow caution tape wrapped around it.

Then follow the yellow caution tape trail to the spot.

Suggest using four low when you leave the main hard pack dirt road for ease of climbing over the ruts especially if you're towing a trailer.

No cell signal at the site but I'll ask pappy to turn on 146.400 and monitor.

Nobody else is at our spot so everybody will have plenty of room.
"Topo App" is the opening act, correct?

I updated the coordinates on the first post and here they're as well. Google map will work too, just be sure to download the route when it asks you for off cell range navigation.

Another great camping trip in the books, thanks to all that joined up with us. What an awesome place to camp and access Taos. Lots of hiking, MTB riding and of course relaxation are possible when you base camp in this location.

Great weekend, thanks everyone! Thanks Ali for locating a great camp spot. Thanks Larry, as usual, for the great margaritas. Thanks to all of you for the great company and welcoming Joie, Christian, Griselda, and Lauchlan into the fold. And especially thanks to those of you who choked down Christian's tuna, filets, veg, crab cakes, burgers, french toast, and breakfast burritos. I know that was hard, but it makes Christian feel good. For those who survived, he may do it again in Ouray.
