Just to be clear... There are two marriages in between Wendy and I "being related". It's not like she's my cousin...

:hillbilly:

But, yes, your old 60 lives on the same street as my father's sister's husband's cousin's wife's 2nd cousin...

I got one more little kwinky-dink with that rig. Some time after Jeff bought it I was in Tijeras (where I never go) and saw it on I 40 heading east pulling a pop-up. Found out later he was going from AZ to TX and I caught a glimps half way.

These two were probably the cleanest installs I've seen. Two different ways of doing it, but both done right. Juane paid for his. Greg did his.

Being the Latest caretaker for the V8 FJ60 Juane had built, I'd have to say when it is done right from the start, it's hard to image how many miles will pass, how many owners it will have, or how many states it will end up in, but this Wagon is still going strong. I'm just doing maintenance, cleaning up a few thing here and there, adding somethings to make it more of a self contained overlander. :steer: I'm very confident in it being a great platform for what I want to do with it. Hell I just put a big fuel tank in it so I can drive longer between stops.

Which is weird... not the whole you being married to your second cousin:eek: thing, but out of all the streets in the world your family tree has a branch on the shortest street in the neighborhood that this FJ 60 moved to.

That was the first time I'd ever been to Detroit as well. However...

You forgot the two marriages in that connection. She's not my second cousin.

Doesn't that look like an Idaho plate on the front bumper?? ;)

it in the mountains of Colorado a few years ago. (Me living in NM, the owner of the 60 at the time, BigIngun, living in Idaho. Here we come up a back road in the 80 and met)

Agreed. You were up looking at a house, IIRC, we were getting packed up to head home and my wife insisted on getting some pictures up "Tincup" in that Aspen grove. We were only there for 5 minutes before you got there........the TLC planets were all in alignment that day!

Glad you're loving it, Scott! Did you ever figure out what the dealio was with the other tank? Was it the sending unit? It had never done that to me.

edit: thanks for alerting me to this thread. This is really neat!!!

Good to hear from you Chad!
Guess you are concentrating on the 40?
Still in Idaho?
Coming to Salida this summer?

"Knockers or Lockers...." I love that!

Hi, Juane! Yep, we're still in ID. We've managed to come down every year so far, except one, I think. We're hoping to be down next month! Hope things are well with you and your girls!!!!

So, I go driving around the corner and see this...

Hey guys--

Interestingly, they also diagnosed why the engine lost all its oil. There is a pressed in plug in the head above spark plug #5 that is known to work its way loose. This plug is in a hole that was used to drill an oil galley. If that plug comes out, you loose most of your oil very quickly since there is high pressure oil directly behind it. Because the 60-series has an oil pressure gauge, but not an idiot light, you don't always notice there's a problem until it's too late. I'm embarrassed to say that I never heard of this common failure, despite owning a 60 for 5 years. I didn't read every item in the FAQ section apparently.

...is this a feature of the 3Fe(?) engine in the 100 series? If so I need to get that bugger fixed asap!

The 3FE is a fuel injected straight six. Yes, I believe the 3FE has the same problem. Mine doesn't. The 100's have a V8 so no worries.

100-series trucks have the 2UZ-FE motor which is a completely different animal from the F, 2F and 3F family of engines. I have not heard of any failure of this nature in the 2UZ motor.

My family and I ran into Juane in St Elmo the other day, again. Freaky.

Good to see you and the clan, Juane!!! Next vacation, we wheel Iron Chest and Old Chinaman's, eh?

There is some kinda psychic vortex surrounding that 60 and St. Elmo, Colorado.
Looking forward to wheeling with you. Iron Chest and, hmmmm, Old Chinaman's? My palms are sweating just thinking about it.
