California trimmer adjustment

Anyone know how to adjust a cal trimmer? I am not getting a clean cut. I know that I use a telephone book page and get the blade to cut it and that's about it

Have you backlapped the cutter bar or sharpened the blades recently?

I brought new blades 2 years ago and had the blades sharpened last year. They never seemed to cut everything on the same height. Almost like 85% was cut and the rest laid down so 2 days later it looks like crap again.

What's backlapping the bar?
