Hi Guys, I'm installing a set of cable lockers in an HZJ73, I have a pretty good idea of where the cables mount to the frame and body - but pics would help. Anyone have pics of where the mount on the body/frame/and axle?

Yup, putting the third member in the rear and a whole front end from a BJ74 - with cable locker - front end completely rebuilt. The levers are installed and the rear third goes in tomorrow.
 
never said why not, i asked "cable lockers in a HZJ73?" it was a question, not an accusation.

since the HZJ never came with cable lockers then there might be some mounts that are missing is why...

sheesh, children, settle down...

now that made me laugh...right up there with "hen's teeth" but more discriptive... i like it.
 
Everything is pretty much there, had to poke a hole for the cables to go through, most of the holes seem to be there for the brackets - but some weld nuts missing - some there. I just need some pics to make sure.

The e-locker option is always there - but if one has the oppportunity to get cable lockers - then thats the best route.

I am installing these in a customers truck - lucky bugger.

What year did the cable lockers disappear. I thought the HZJ75 had them well into the 90s,maybe it was the only model.
 
well, acording to the EPC the elec locker was the only available selectable diff lock for 1990 onward for all models of land cruiser...
here is an interesting find:
41110-60441 is the code for elec diff lock for the PZJ7* with...... get this...4.56 gearing... now that is a cool revelation.

i thought the only gearing for elec locker for the PZJ7* (which is a direct bolt into the HZJ7*) was the 4.11...

now i am curious as to what a complete center unit would be worth...

Interesting .. 4.56 gears from factory option .. nice, really nice ..

60 series cable locker handles are not all that good a fit in an HZJ77 or 73... I would suggest that the 70 series cables and handles would be a better way of going.

Hi John, I actually found they fit pretty well, iirc I had to mess around under the body a bit to make things fit - but after that all was good. Of course I had to swap a BJ70 front end in for the install as the 73 front end was high pinion.

sounds like a cool rig , did you have build pics of it?
 
I wish I did. That truck was a mint hzj73 with 90k kms on it. I put an ome kit on it, swapped in the lockers that I bought in Australia with the linkages and axles. I had a bj70 front end and rebuilt it completely, installed the locking diff. Went on like a charm.
