anyone have any idea on what this could be? 1996 FJ80 AWD LC auto 111k miles.

I just had all the fluids changed at a drive thru including 2x diffs.

Weird burning smell happens after long uphill runs?

Runs perfectly otherwise......

My guess is that grease has been slung from your drive shaft on to the exhaust system because the grease monkeys over did it.

meow...

Hot kitties...

Yup it's defintely slung drive line grease in my case. Check your muffler for grease and I bet you will find a nice spattering of it.

Drive shaft leaking...

See the attached picture. I'm trying to figure out if something needs to be fixed or do I just clean the spattering of grease. There has been no recent service to this area.

I went camping with my son. There was a long uphill climb to the campsite. On arrival we could smell the wonderful aroma of burnt grease that was on the muffler.

Man, that's a lot of grease flung on that muffler. I'd just clean it off and go with it. With that much grease, you may want to take the shaft out and make sure it isn't packed with grease causing pressure on the output bearings of the Tcase. Just a suggestion.
