Cross post from the classified forum for more traffic here. Finally getting around to putting the swing out on and I’m thinking I may have ****ed up? Rather than grinding a bevel into the bottom of the spindle I welded in an angled brace on the bottom plate of the bumper. This had the unwitting effect of raising the whole assembly by an inch. I can weld in a spacer on the latch side and top it with UHMW, but is this unintended height going to cause me extra metal fatigue and failure down a bumpy road?
Thanks for any thoughts!
