Here is V1 build for my 97 TLC.
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/time-to-build-a-rear-bumper.563915/

Now here is V2 that I built for the 97 LX450. I am not going to type a play by play on this one just pics. I did not show any of the bending or the side bars, ladder ect because most folks dont have a bender anyway and if you do you should know how anyway:rimshot:
If you have any questions just ask :) I need to stop building bumpers...every time I build a bumper I sell the Cruiser. Looks like I may be getting a FJ Cruiser and selling the LX:lol:

Looks nice!

Wow that looks damn good.

Anybody plans to mass produce? I can live without the dual swingouts to make it easier too

No I just dont have the time. Would be good money with the prices these vendors charge for bumpers. I have maybe $200.00 in metal if that!

Craftsmanship.

If I haven't asked before but what kind of bender? Do you have a background in metal work? TIG, MIG or stick?

Nice! Like the home made brake. How many ton press is that and how thick was the steel?

Looks great.. but I like the first one better and will be stealing your design!! I've built a few bumpers, front and rear for Disco's including sliders. I know what it takes to do this and your work looks great. When are you gonna start your front bumper?

Just a hack...built a few race cars and one rat rod. The bender is a JMR raceline converted to Hyd... and its bad ass.

HF 20ton 1/4 plate have bent 1/2 plate with no problem

The V1 was easier to build V2 is much stronger. If I do another I would for the main bumper like V2 and side wings like V1. The the departure angle on this new one is nuts....even better than 4x4 labs.

Was getting ready to do a front but looks like I am getting a FJ Cruiser this week so the LX will be for sale.....the curse of the bumper build...I build a bumper for it...bitch is getting sold :)

Not bad at all! How many hours do you have in it?

Of real hands on maybe 8 hrs but lots of that is "thinking time" lol. I could do V1 in 3hr not counting paint V1 maybe 5hr. a plasma would make it much faster.

Nice work!

I have thought about a JD2 bender (not hydraulic) but I don't have the floor space plus I am renting so I wouldn't want to damage a garage floor. I need to source a shop for doing some bends. I had a lead I thought but they didn't realize that it was just me and just a few pieces. They said it wasn't cost effective to bend a few small pieces for just one guy.

LOL... It's all good. Capitalism in finest form. I really like the brake by the way. I am slowly getting a diy/home shop the way I want it. Definitely watching you other diy guys and your setups.

Bowtiestang can you recommend a tube notch tool? I was looking at a JD2 on eBay and it looks pretty nice. It's pricey at 275 and does not include the hole saws but I know it's high quality. Thanks in advance.

Built two race car cages and this bumper with a $40 HF notcher.
