I usually travel solo or sometimes with my daughter so I didn't need a large footprint. We take a pop-up if the whole family is going and its a different style of travel. I found this tent second hand locally for a good price. Denver Outfitters no longer sells it, but its basically identical to a Roofnest Sparrow X. I liked that it incorporates load bars that can carry 100lbs so my rack isn't used up by the tent. Its also allows for bedding to be stored inside (I have two pillows, two comforters, and a 3" memory foam mattress up there in that pic). And finally, its one of the lighter units at 130 lbs. I had a big RTT back in my Land Rover days and I hate how top heavy it makes the truck feel - especially in places like Moab.
