Location
in the garage
starting with a small motor cycle trailer
build/fab an axle using cruiser hubs and spindles and 3" tube
weld on perches
modified spring pac
SOA
33" treads

strip down bike trailer and rebuild as nessasary.

how thick of tube would you recomend for the axle,.120?
weld end plates to tube to bolt on spindles or just weld spindles to the tube?

fabbing and modifing is not an issue.
i like to build so buying an axle (from a trailer store) is not an option.
and i pretty much have everything to do it.
just have to go get the trailer.

thoughts?
do's and don'ts

thanx

Trailer builder

Holy Cow Jim, a real enthusiast, 020 tubing is ok for a liteweight unit, the load is diminished, but gussets are a consideration. Trailer body, made up of 3/16 alum plate, nothi g less unless you can break and bend for strength, height of the sides not to exceed 15 inches, width not to exceed 48 in , length dependent on your height 72 in is a normal configuration Tongue at least 38 inches long, wheelbase same as the vehicle towing it. You will or should consider your own capabilities. and obvious they are pretty extensive in the build. Trails take and make fun of trailers, HAHA they laugh at cruisers and jeepers., make it to beat em all. I did, and it performs well everywhere I have taken it, and acttually saved a rollover on one occassion. Good Luck, and have a ball.

Jim-

With your skills I would expect a scratch built unit, and nothing less! I am dreaming and working on a design... my old job, for a homebuilt unit for extended backcountry fun.
