I doubt I’m the only person with this issue. The front air vent assembly (L and R of the radio/screen) in the 100 series. I noticed the tab that controls the direction of the blades (up and down or left and right) I have lost the ability to move the blades up and down. I reached out to Toyota and cruiser parts and unfortunately I have to replace the entire vent assembly, even the hazard antenna and dif switches. ~500$. I took it all apart and have isolated the problem. A small bracket in which the blades connect into to all the central tab to move all the blades in unison. The eyelets have broken. So $500 for a 15cent plastic bracket. Any one have a bead on a used vent, or maybe a 3d printed replacement? Or what have you all done to fix this?

Here is an easy fix!

Apply JB weld and run a thin metal wire on the outside perimeter to keep the eyelet closed. I have fixed numerous vents on our Hilux in this manner!

$194 (without the wood overlay)

these are like ordering new seatbelts, you want a six pack first. But having them new is pretty nice.

impex might be cheaper. I've noticed lately that they are. I go back and forth between them lately.
Passenger side vent is less money.

Thank everyone! Got my juices flowing. While going through my tool chest had a light bulb moment. Zip Tie! I put masking tape over the zip tie, cut it to size, marked the holes from the original bracket, drilled the holes (5/64). And boom. Better than original, perfect fit, feels far more deliberate when you adjust the air direction, and hold the position far better. Win win.
