broken Lift Gate Handle (1 Viewer)

Had the handle on my cruiser break and so I bought this replacement:

in pictures 1 &3 you can see the two metal pieces that protrude to the outside, but what I really need is the black plastic piece that IS the handle that connects between the two.

I don't see it on this diagram either:

Anybody know what part that black plastic is?? I can't believe i'm the first one that's had it break.
