Ok, i think my choke knob is broken. it might just be locked up and need a bitof wd40 in the cable. but my question is, can you lock the choke cable ? i heard that somwhere. like if you turn it to theright it will lock so you dont have to keep holdin it? :confused:
 
Not on your 1974.


It should have two or three detents that will hold the cable in position when it is pulled out.



Buy new.

I thought mine was locked up(couldnt move it at all) as well so I took it off the cable from the carb, oiled it up and moved in it and out of the shealth(I know sounds bad) It works freely now and that has been a few years now. Doesnt hurt to try it first
 
You're thinking of the "throttle" cable on early 62's, and maybe some earlier 40's, operates the way you're speaking of.
