I was just wondering..
If I wanted to make my rear tail lights brighter.
What bulb #s do I need to install??
The truck is an 1990 Lj78 Prado.
Thanks

Anyone???

LJ78s are all 12Volts, no?

Frankly I think 70 series taillights are pretty bright. Maybe the Prado ones aren't as good. The bulbs in there will be 1156. I don't think there is such a think as a high watt 1156. There might be a decent LED option though

Sorry, I drive Nissan  so just assume all JDM Cruisers being nearly as good a a Safari are all 24Vs. I suspect he has the Japanese spec bulbs in there which are lower wattage than NA spec bulbs. In BC, these are suppose to be changed to the higher wattage NA spec before they are registered. It should not have passed the OOP VI without this being done. However, lots of things have gotten past inspection, so it wouldn't suprise me. Anyways, you can do the same with 12 V as the 24 V. Just go to your auto parts store and get higher wattage bulbs - there is no need to risk your wiring loom with a 50 W halogen bulb. Also, I believe LEDs are illegal in BC and do funny things with flashers. Skidmark (retired RCMP) had a few posts on the legality of LEDs on BC4X4.COM.

Thanks guys for your help.
I was just wondering about the 1156's.
I was not really sure if they came in different wattages or not.
So I guess they do not and I will have to be satisfied with the bulbs that are instaled which are N/A bulbs.

My understanding from what I saw in the catalogue at the Lordco parts desk is that they do come in different wattages. There must of been at least 3 different wattages for the same bulb when I went to get spares for my rear brake lights and turn signals. But if you go to a place like Crappy Tire, they are not gonna have much more than the standard wattage.

COOL!!:)
So maybe napa may carry the higher wattage bulbs..
I'll have to go check..
Thanks
