Bridgestone Dueler Revo A/T Long-Term Update

OK guys, you all know I got my Revos a while back so I've put them through the ringer pretty good. Performance was what should be expected from an All-Terrain tire. It did not exceed my expectations and it didn't disappoint either. I finally retired the faithful set today. The mileage that they were retired at was 47,317. During this time I had zero punctures despite above average amounts of offroad usage. I am very pleased to have gotten this mileage and hope it helps others gauge whether these are the right tires and for those of you that have them, you at least have some ballpark of mileage to expect.

I can say without hesitation that if it was summertime I would have run these tires past 50,000 miles. Unfortunately timing is everything and I've got a vacation in the Great Smokies this weekend that I wanted fresh tires for. My tread depth at 47,317 was approximately 3/16" left. It was on the treadwear indicator pretty much.

Anyhow, I put on a fresh set of Revo's today. I forgot they came with this much tread!

Nice to hear. I put a set on my wifes 100 last month. We used them in the snow for a week. Lots of ice and steep hills. They performed really well. Looking forward to getting some dirt on them.

How much did you pay for the set?

2 years ago I paid $752 mounted/balanced for the lifetime.

Today I paid $817 mounted/balanced for the lifetime.

Good to hear since I just drove to colorado and back for a total of 1800 miles on my fresh set. Then I'm going on a piggy hunting trip this week to add another 600 miles to that :D In colorado they did awesome in the snow went right up the berthoud pass in the middle of white out snow conditions. Revo's rock!!

Let me remind you, that this revos are passenger tires. You can also buy them as light truck tires with higher load index (but not in Europe and not in 275/70R16). I've also bought them (passenger tires) and they did not perform that well on rocky pistes with a fully loaded car (I had many punctures). If you buy BFG AT there are only LT tires. Revos are the best tires in the rain, but not in the snow. I will not buy them again as in Europe I can only get the passenger version and it costed me $720 almost a year ago :(.
Don't they come in US with a 60000 mile guarantee?

Regards

Samo

Samo,

The tires these guys are using are the 285 75r16 which is a LT tire that is "D" rated. They are fairly beefy.

I don't think the 50,000 mi. warrenty applies to the LT version of the tire. I'm not certain...

I would never personally use a "P", or passenger tire on the heavy Land Cruiser. I don't think it is safe even for towing or highway use, let alone off track stuff.

In Europe also 285/75R16 has a load index of only 116 - how come we get the crappy tires that are also much more expensive?
I'll buy another set of Bridgestones only if I move to USA ;).

Regards

Samo

Sorry Samo but you guys are getting screwed!

Yeah Stew I've taken 'em in a bunch of snow and they did so good I was almost bored.

I wonder when Bridgestone is going to wise up and make the Revo in an 18" size (preferably 285/65). I'm down to 5/32 on my stock Duelers and the Revos are what I'm wanting to put on next.:frown:

Good point Steph. Maybe you can check out the Nitto Terra Grapplers or the Toyo Open Country AT instead. They offer more sizes in the larger wheels.

. The Revos have been so good in the white that I haven't put my new chains on once. Raton pass during a blizzard two weeks ago wasn't even interesting.

I got talked out of getting a set of REVO's by a local dealer only because of cost not quality. He sold me a set of American Prospector (LT's) A/T's that look like BFG AT/KO's, that he backed up with replacement for any problems including punctures, for less then 1/2 of the cost of REVO's. I have always run the best tires on any of my rigs, but I gave this guy the benefit of the doubt. He claims these tires are made by BFG for American. So far with 4K miles they are wearing even and show almost no wear, I'm impressed so far and will also keep you guys informed. It's always good to have a low cost alternative.

They've got'em in 18s now!!

Only 275/65/18, but that still an inch bigger than stock. I'm having them put on next week and I'm getting a good deal...$632 and that includes lifetime rotate and balance. I hope all the good things I heard about this tire are true, since I'll be taking them down to the Outer Banks, NC to test them out.

they got what the revos or the somthing else? Also when you go to tirerack it says that they are white letter can they be switched so that the black side is shown? does anyone have pics of these tires on there 100?

You can mount with black side facing out, they are non directional.

Good to know thanks!

I noticed they have the revo's in 18", too, but they are passenger-rated, not LT. The Nitto 18's aren't really any larger in diameter than the stock 31's, only much wider, so not so useful (what were they thinking?) Nice thing about the 18" revos is they come in two sizes, one being equivalent to 32", so the speedo/gearing is only off by 5%.

Here's the thread when I got the first set back in 2003:

The pics were mainly for comparison to the stock Michelins. I can get some closeups later if you need 'em. Also, my avatar is the tread pattern.
