I noticed my brake pedal felt a bit stiff last night and the stopping power just wasn't there. Just prior before that I went through a huge puddle.. like 1.5ft deep, there was some flooding going on. Are the brakes damaged?

Also, I guess I'll keep it in 1 thread, but this past winter, my truck has been fairing pretty well in the winter but sometimes I'd get stuck when one wheel is caught in the slush/ice/snow (no rear LSD) but I'll be fine once I turn on 4WD but sometimes that means I'm in the middle of an intersection. The rest of the roads is just clear tarmac so I usually don't leave 4WD on (it's bad for the transmission apparently?) Would a rear locker help? My friend recommended an aussie locker. I won't be doing any serious offroading..

Thanks

EDIT: I have a BJ73

Sounds like a vacuum problem to me re stiff peddle... Hows it fairing now?

on another brake related question; how much stopping power should a 73/74 have when you lay in on full with 30s?
The old 60 could easily lock up on dry pavement, my 74 cant make a peep (although it does slow down reasonably quickly...)
(Sorry for hijack)

Frozen...

No worries about the hijack.. I'll test it out today. I was at home all yesterday.

As with your question, i guess it wold depend on the tires? My 73 would rarely lock up but it does stop very quickly. Even pushed at the limit, the tires wouldn't squeal very much.

Frozen...

It wasn't that cold out that night, above freezing. but I hope it's just the water related issue that fixes itself after being dry for a while.

Aussie's are great.

As for your brakes...could be just because you got them wet, what we do is ride the pedal lightly to heat and dry the pads via friction.

Is everything fine now .
