That’s what it feels like, really have to stomp the pedal to get it to bite. Driving home 700+ miles should be fun!@BruceFZJ80 Sounds like a brake booster issue. Mine went out last year and it’s quite difficult to brake without it!
I got plenty of fluidBooster is leaking.
Hurry up and fix it ASAP. Then post a detailed thread that makes the FSM look like Latin. Word is, I might have 1 or 2 to replace, also. That’s what it feels like, really have to stomp the pedal to get it to bite. Driving home 700+ miles should be fun!
Has nothing to do with your master cylinder unless you have a slow leak going inside the booster causing the failure, one side of your booster is vacuum and the other is atmospheric pressure this is why you get that soft pedal brake assist.I got plenty of fluid
Yup, no soft pedal assist!Has nothing to do with your master cylinder unless you have a slow leak going inside the booster causing the failure, one side of your booster is vacuum and the other is atmospheric pressure this is why you get that soft pedal brake assist.
Yup, it’s a 97. I remember hearing the booster was more $$ than the master cylinder. I’ll take a look when I get back to the truck tomorrow. Thanks97 FZJ80 Brake boosters are still available from Toyota (44610-60792) but they are $600.
Thanks Stump, I’ll let you know if the booster needs to be replaced but knowing my luck it’s a sure thing it doesI have one on the ‘94 parts truck, that I can bring up to CMCC.
Whoa there, cowboy! I'm back in town tomorrow to claim what's mine!!!I have one on the ‘94 parts truck, that I can bring up to CMCC.
Gotcha.Whoa there, cowboy! I'm back in town tomorrow to claim what's mine!!!
@Stumpalama looks like it's leaking from the diaphragm, I can feel the air coming though from the inside of the firewall by where I took the pic. Hoses and check valve grommet seem fine. Does the above quote mean I'm SOL on that part from you?Gotcha.
