I have had some air in the brake lines and decided to bleed the brakes last night. After getting all the air out I test drove the rig.

During test drive I noticed that I could lay on the brakes and they did not lock up.

Decided to see what the FSM said about the brake booster.
The FSM has two tests for the brake booster.
1. Run the rigs for about 2 -3 minutes. Shut engine off. Depress the brake 3 to 4 times. The pedal should have a shorter travel gradually at each time the pedal is depress.
2. Run the engine. Depress the pedal and shut the engine off. The pedal should come up gradually.

Test shielded that my brake booster is bad.

Is there a rebuild kit for the brake booster?
 
Cheaper and easier to get a used one. They rarely fail.
 
i got a brand new one 6 months ago it cost me 500 bucks to get it replaced at tire kingdom
 
Toyota does not offer a kit for that booster. A new OEM booster lists for $849.84 and wholesale for between 640 and 680 bucks.

:eek: , I'd rather use 50 layered saran wrap as the rubber baffle than a whole new booster.

Well, the brake booster finally failed. The condition of failure was noticeable by a vacuum leak that could be heard inside the cab and no brake pressure. The brake pressure to stop the rig took both legs and a lot of leg power.

The brake booster failed because the master cylinder was leaking which ultimately caused the booster to fail.

Fortunately the junkyard just got in a rolled 96. I took the booster off and slapped it in my 92. The fit, form, and function of the new booster and the old booster were the same with the exception of the vacuum location on the booster. I worked around it though by using a longer vacuum hose.

I now have a reman’ed master cylinder that I will be installing tonight. Napa had it for $53 with a $33 core charge.

O, the booster was $125 pulled.
 
nice to know that the later style ones will bolt up in a 92, I am getting the research done to start a drive train swap for a 93 with e lockers inot my 92.

Are you doing both front and rear e-lockers? I was thinking about Aussie in the back and e-locker up front.

Let me know how that goes, If I find a front eloc I may try to swap.
