I think it’s not so much out smarted as it is different technology driven by engineers building towards different requirements

for example the shocks used in BP51 are adjustable for compression and rebound whilst OEM ones aren’t. That expands the truck to new needs, adjustability, that weren’t be addressed in OEM specifications.

another example is handling on road. Toyota requirements and tolerances probably did not think of people like me that drive every vehicle in a spirited manner. Consequently there is body roll and nose dive with spirited driving. The OME upgrade (seems to going by the repeats of those who are running BO51) addresses a use case Toyota did not anticipate or want to cover.
couldn't agree more having just done the OME BP51 set up with 2856518 tires on 18x9 icons with a +25mm offset to a 2018 LC-200

Could you share a bit more about handling before and after especially on road? I live with some winding roads and would love to tame the body roll and other handling characteristics!

in my opinion, if i may chip into the disc, I'm one of the first user of BP51s on LC200 in Indonesia that means 2016 or 17 early.
since then i've installed the superior engineering UCA, night and day difference. the car itself has been performing BETTER, more plush than stock suspension, which I had since 2008 till 2014 (OME Nitrocharger Sport) for 3 years, then BP51.

I would say, it's the best so far, but im also biased here in INDONESIA, kings pricing is just way outta my league, theyre selling for close to 7-9K USD. so no brainer.

Im looking to do the same suspension setup on stock sized tires. Mostly to deal with shock temps on really long stretches of corrugated gravel road.
If you are not carrying a ton of weight or towing a lot (meaning not changing to a wide range of weight) I would go tough dog or ironman. Great performance for the price and simple to use.
