Well I got my new projects home today.78 and 79 fj55's heres a pic next to my recently completed 40. My wife calls the 40 "Big Bird" so I guess once the 55 is done that will be "Miss Piggy" sort of a muppets theme I guess. I got both of the pigs for $1,000.00. I am planning a relatively low budget build. The green one has a great body and no engine or trans and the white one runs with a 2f and four speed. Between the two there is a very complete pig there. I've also got a bud who has a 89 soa 62 who will be going to rockwells and a radical four link I am hoping to score his drivetrain from the wheels to the tranny and transfer.Anyone have experience running the toyota automatic from a 60/62, are they good or should I keep the four speed? I'll be posting up in the next few months with more questions I am sure, this forum was invaluable for my 40 buildup. Thanks in advance.

You lucky dog, nice batch of cruisers.

Your 40 looks sweet, cannot wait to see what you will do with the 55s...

The Automatic tranny will get you overdrive. Something to think about.

That is a big plus...but that tranny seems to suck a lot of power...that auto behind a 2F may be a bit of a dog...

Those look like a couple of nice cruisers man, can't wait to see what you put together out of it. Post any questions you run across were here to help.

Thanks for the replies. My bezel is right the rest of the cruiser world has been dupped into thinking they are correct, just look at some of the old sales literature ;p I live in Tucson, Rhino are you in Phoenix? I do only "plan" to build one piggy so the other one (primarily the white one) and any spare parts will be available, I know it has two sets of good glass and such. Let me know if I have something you may need and I will also post as I go along.

Your Bezel is WRONG. Quite a few 40's came out of the factory with the bezel upside down, hence the old sales photos.

Sweet piggy score, though!

The A440F from the FJ62 is a bombproof, excellent auto tranny. If you're going to wheel your new pig then it's an excellent choice. For purely on road driving I'd prefer a manual tranny.

yup i'm in Phx. and i will be poking about that spare pig for misc. little things you wont need when your ready.

What's with firefighters and pigs, |just a good combo I guess!!!!

Yeah I guess I should be careful if I ever get pulled over for speeding and not use the " I didn't think a pig could go that fast" line.

Looks like you will be busy -- wish I had the room. Keep me in mind for spare parts -- I continue to work on my 75.
