It was great checking out your project last night.

Post up some engine bay pictures!

@cruisermatt wanted me to show-and-tell some of the funky things in the engine bay.

Pic 1: Steel plate lifter cover instead of the proper thing

Pic 2: Plumbing store ball valve for a heater valve... Instead of the proper thing

Pic 3: Oil filter and lines are removed and the passages plugged ("has good oil pressure though!")

So I got all the old 3sp clutch goodies off. Nothing looks as belad as I thought. The flywheel and pressure plate are junk but the friction disc and rear main look "new". My thoughts are a PO swapped just the friction disc and rear main and nothing else. Reassembled it wrong somehow and then parked it. All the bolts (minus flywheel) we're loose-ish - could've been from being drenched in old old crud too. Oh well. Moving along with 4sp stuff slowly.

Alrighty brain trust. What series of unfortunate events do we think happened here? My inspection cover seems to have been bb'd from inside the bellhousing.

Shrapnel or some P.O. used it for target practice.

I wasn't gonna do work today but after stopping by @cruisermatt to pick up some more knick knacks I got antsy and started tinkering. Got the 55 backing plate swapped over to the 4sp and did the ebrake cable and seal while I was at it.

Had some questions about reusing the the 3sp fork pivot on the 4sp bellhousing. I tested it out and it seems (in theory) to work fine. But we'll see when we get closer to full install and mock up. Yes, I painted my bellhousing and fork - I was bored. "Prepped" the flywheel and chased the thread for the pressure plate bolts.

I think all the pivot balls are the same. I have definitely mixed and matched them between bellhousings when in a pinch successfully.

Pretty sure that the clutch fork pivots are different between 3 and 4 speeds...

Oil pan gasket done. P/O used clear window silicone as gasket maker. New rear main seal and checked the bearing (didn't look too bad - lots of dry starts). Torqued the main and rod caps while I was in there. "New" 4sp bellhousing in. At that part where things are going back in instead of coming out. Moving right along.
