I have a ‘75 FJ40 and despite full OME suspension (5+1) 6 rear leaf springs it suffers from droop and lean.

I read all the forums and the Boss seemed to be the most preferred but size could interfere with rear disc brakes. Firestone has a tall thin unit with good reviews but it looked flimsy. I ordered the bas from John at Cool Cruisers. Because I already had a lift I had to get the 3 baffle bag that was delivered free no tax for $399. The brackets are off set and spin to allow having the bag a little inside or outside the center line. This was helpful as the frame rails are not directly in line with the springs.

I was worried about the T brake line but the mount was elevated just enough to clear the top. I had to cut a piece out of the mount as it would not slide under the T line.

I removed the bumpstops and their brackets and used the same hardware and holes in frame. I did The whole job in the driveway with a floor jack and 2 jack stands. I managed to avoid removing the shocks

The air lines push right in. I was able to mount the 2 shrader valves in pre-existing holes in the bumper and used a bicycle pump to put 30psi on passenger side and 40psi on driver side to correct droop and lean. A quick ride around the block was a little bouncy but smooth. Still plenty of flex. I’ll have to adjust my side mirrors. I see no issues with the bags hitting the calipers.

Great write up.

I don’t think Boss Bags will interfere with Disc brakes with disc brakes the way they’re usually done these days (as the OP has demonstrated). The Hot Rod shop that did my conversion are welded to the axle tube and have a flange that sticks in 1.25” inside of the plate also.

In my case I don’t think they’d clear... but 20+ years later I’d do it differently. That said, Suburban/Blazer/.75 Ton, rotors and callipers are bullet proof and overkill... and I’m always in favour of overkill.
