there are many diffrent seal diameters, and a couple of diffrent threads,

biggest diffrences in specs for each filters is bypass valve presence and opening pressure,

Chevy has thier filter bypass valve in the block and none in the filter, where most everybody else it is in the filter itself, if you were to put a non bypass filter on a no bypass engine you would put to much differential pressure on the filter media on cold start resulting in something like the pic at the top of this thread, the media is only good for aobut 20 PSID

I will say this is the one Place Chevy had it right, with the bypass valve moved to the block any crud that enters the filter stays there forever, where in all other filters the crud has a chance to be circulated if the bypass valve opens.

Good timing folks.
I am gathering supplies for an oil change right now.
Thinking about giving the napa gold wix a try.
I have always made a habit of filling the filter about 3/4.
Got to let it soak up the oil a minute or 2 then goes on with very little spill.
OC about wiping the seal area and putting a little oil on the seal as well.
Dino to 5k or 4 months
