I picked up a used cedar play set this weekend. The wood was never sealed so it's a little weathered. It seems like I've heard that you can somewhat restore the wood's appearance by pressure washing it. Does anyone own a pressure washer that I could borrow? Has anyone ever pressure washed a wood deck or fence to get rid of the weathered look and had any success?

You can buy a fence or deck restore chemical. Spray it on and hose it off with a garden hose. Works pretty good.

If you use a pressure washer it may blow the wood away. You will end up with a rough grain texture that will leave splinters in little hands.

TSP- from a paint store- tri sodium phosphate or some- such, works great. I have some.

I bought some concentrated stuff that you mix 5:1, water:cleaner and spray on with a garden sprayer. It says to let is sit for about 30 minutes. Then scrub the surface with a nylon brush and wash off. I haven't tried it yet so I'll let you know how it works after I do.
