My #2 (in the picture) brake light (red middle section) is out. How do I know what exact replacement (filament/volt) bulb I need? Thanks.

I was thinking an 1157??
thanks guys.I was thinking an 1157??
meaning if ONLY my brake light is out?The single element is an 1156.
Not really. The rear lights on a fj40 live a hard life of vibration dirt and moisture. You can buy 8-10 1157's and just toss them in the glove box and with a phillips head screw driver change them in a few mins as needed.
are these 12V? Thx for feedback. Not really. The rear lights on a fj40 live a hard life of vibration dirt and moisture. You can buy 8-10 1157's and just toss them in the glove box and with a phillips head screw driver change them in a few mins as needed.
But I assume I need 12V?the 1157 has 2 knubs underneath and the 1156 has 1 knub
the 1157 should only go in 1 way as the posts on the side are off set
any auto parts store will have a bin full of these bulbs
What voltage is your battery? But I assume I need 12V?

24V is typically for diesel engines.
This thread begs the question: How many people does it take to change a light bulb? lol!
