Boring dash?

blurry photo - I just thought I suddenly didn't need glasses anymore :)

I really do like your wood dash though. I went to the site and they have similiar kits for my '96, but they remove the piece around the shifter and around the center console coin area - even though it should be identical. Bummer.

I notice they also offer "molded" wood kits. Obviously can't get real wood like you can with the "flat" kits, but it might look pretty nice on the door pieces. Anyone have one of these (and a pic)?

mine does have little trim pieces on the door by the window switch, search for wood dash, i have seen many others with 95-up put some on.

Sorry I wasn't clear (clear as mud?). I did notice all the kits have pieces on the doors by the window buttons, but the flat kits (like I currently have from the factory/dealer) are just glued-on flat pieces of wood/plastic. The site you listed shows some kits that are 3D molded plastic (look like wood though) that actually replace the plastic around the window switch on the doors - pretty sweet.

I really like the look of my 94 dash. I plan on adding a double din dvd player/navigaion unit in mine also. Gotta move out of my sketchy neighborhood first so it doesn't get ripped off...

True that daily-driving a recent car makes it very boring to get back behind the wheel of an early 80... But the thrill isn't there!

?

Question? What is the knob right below the keys in haffi's pic. I have a hole there but no switch. Mine is a 92?

Unfortunately the "molded" kits for the 80 do not have molded pieces for the window switches. There is really very little difference between the kits.

The main difference seems to be the shifter surround.

A good question for you to ask yourself is "why do I want one?"

Keeps the revs up while you winch, run your electric compressor or any other high draw device. Good for warming the car up while you scrape ice off in a morning (if you have that!) . Good for really bumpy tracks so you don't kangeroo.

Jon.

My one complaint about my 94 dash is I wanted to add 2 more of the top row curved switches. When I took the panel off to cut the plastic out I realized they didn't put any of the tabs in there to hold the switches in. They are molded smooth without the tabs. I've thought about adding them anyway and using some sort of adhesive to hold them in place. I've gotten sort of anal about using factory switches. I use a rear defrost switch for arming my winch and the power antenna switch for in and out. I use a hazard lights switch for the rock lights. I played with many different typefaces and made little stickers to make these reused switches look factory. I don't have it perfected yet. I'll post up when I do.

I know why I may want one. I have a winch. I was saying a good question for the poster was "why would I want one."
