Its late...I cant sleep. I got to thinking as it seems to be a problem I have lately...
This club site has been D E A D!!!!
Is there anyone that comes on here any more!?!?!?!
WTF is everyone DOING!?

LC has been on the back burner, luckily, because it doesn't really need anything.;)

My focus has been getting ready for Alaska. The truck/camper has been my priority. Darcie and I leave on Sep. 4 and won't get back until sometime toward the end of Sep. Driving to Prudoe Bay and then taking our time driving back. Stops in Denali and anywhere else we decide. That is pretty much our plan.

Plus been working like a dog lately. Worked 70 hours this last week...

And yes I check on here at least once a day, if not more.

Living the dream baby!

Take lots of notes and pictures so you can do a nice write up when you get back.

dead? DEAD? shouldn't you be working on your cruiser? is it finished yet? :hmm:

If it was finished, you could have come along to Deer Valley

I try to check in once a day while i am work :D just to see if anything is going on. I think we are a pretty low key club, it is rather nice. I need to do a few repairs and additions for my next trip.

I built a mount for my gps that mounts above the grab handle, but that's about it....

Archery hunting in the ruby mountains, and building a rear bumper for my dads TJ have been taking up most of my time. I'd post pics of the TJ but I don't want to burn anyones eyes.... :D

It's always good to see great fab work, doesn't matter what it gets bolted to.:flipoff2:

Did a nice 5-day backpack trip into the central Sierra/JMW a couple weeks ago; caught and ate brookies at 11,500'. God I love the simplicity of backpacking! Sure is nice not having to spend hundreds of hours modding and/or fixing the darn thing

Then to Omaha last week for our daughter's wedding...just got back last night.

I installed a new starter...that's buttoned up. Trying to get the alternator out to replace...damn plastic connector won't budge; love that 11yr old plastic that sits below the exhaust manifold .

Then on to figuring out better front upper control arms. Using Carl's now...and they just suck in the durability dept.

Off to Alaska for more salmon fishing next week...

Prudoe Bay to say that we have done it, too bad they stop the artic ocean tours at the end of August, so I won't be able to touch the artic ocean (booo). We will be above the artic circle though (will take obligatory picture). Denali NP is on our list of must sees, after that we will make it up. And yes there is ton to see. I don't think three weeks will be enough, between Alaska and Canada, but you gotta work with what you got.

Should be right around 3500 miles from Reno to Prudoe Bay (slightly more than across the US from coast to coast).

We agree.

Will try, I will probably be better at pics than story though.

wow, gorgeous brookies Dan! That sounds like one heck of a trip. I wish I could catch my own dinner on trips like that, but my trout allergies might make it a one way trip! :crybaby: You should bring a picture into the store for me to put on the reel bar next week when i get back.

Allergic?! I have friends that are allergic to shellfish but I've never heard of a fish/trout allergy...BUMMER! We ate trout 2 of the 4 nights...but I only fished the two nights. I really wanted to catch a Golden but it never happened.

A friend within the last week has caught a 31" and a 34" Mack at Boca (on flyrod)!

We were above 10,000' so no fires possible. But they still tasted mighty fine salted and sauteed in olive oil over the JetBoil :D.

I want to, some year soon, pay one of the pack ops to haul all my gear (camping and float tube) up there and leave me for a week of splendido summer fly fishing. I think it would be just the best! I couldn't believe all the deep and relatively large lakes up there!

Well the latest in the hansen world.
Got a call from the wife today (Jack has already been privy to this story...) saying that the daughters 4 runner is over heating and there's smoke coming from the motor.
She get it home and there is a hissing sound from the back of the motor and its smoking white. FAAAAAWWWWWK Im looking for a hose. theres no hose back there leaking...head gasket...gotta be.
I call Jack (hoping he may have an EASIER and CHEAPER solution) NOPE...Jack confirmed the suspicion and added "You dont wanna **** with that. Its a B*TCH!" in not so many words.
Long story short..I had to call upon the "MAN".its been towed to sunshine auto. The dark horse in the expense will be the machining. Itll either be 100 or 300 or a new head. Wish that Id have known the 3.0 was sh*t toy motor....So the labor and parts are 1400 and then the machining.

Ah well!

Humpf...Didnt thing about the elevation.
How does the jet boil work up there then?
Ill BET they tasted great. Ive only eaten ONE trout that Ive caught and that was because I hooked it in the gills and it was going to die anyway. It was the BEST FISH I had ever had. NO JOKE!
I was fishing a humpy on the truckee...he decided at the last second to NOT take it, but he must have turned weird to hook the gill...

The JetBoil worked just fine. I took one full large canister of fuel and I guess there's about 1/3 to 1/2 the fuel left in it (I still need to weigh it to determine the actual grams and % of fuel remaining). Not bad for 2 meals per day, coffee, tea, hot chocolate over 4.5 days and 3-hungry backpackers!
