Looks like I will have to move or replace the tube crossbrace to fit the 465 I'm putting in my 71 /40. I'm thinking about making a bolt on one than cutting out the old tube. Classic Cruisers said they weld plate to the old tube and weld it back on the frame. I'm not too crazy about welding on the frame. Any comments on a bolt in brace? Bad idea? Thanks for any help, John

they only problem with a bolt on brace is that you'll either have to sleeve the bolts (welding on frame) or use nutserts (questionable strength). theres nothing wrong with welding on the frame unless you dont trust your welds.
