Body caulk (1 Viewer)

Greetings -

I’m trying to remedy some fitment issues between the hood and cowl. I believe this is secondary to worn body mounts. The prior owner (sadly for me) applied caulk between the fenders/apron and between the fender/cowl. I’m stuck removing this crap. I know the area marked in green needs to go, but can someone tell me If the area in yellow also has to be cleaned up?

I’d pull it. Just another spot for dirt/water to be trapped and cause rust.

If you want it to look correct remove all of the seam sealer on the fenders

Yikes. What a pain. Tough to get that to clean up well.

Seems like it was done as part of a same-color respray? If so, that'll make removal, er, "interesting" to say the least.

Yeah looks pretty crappy in those areas now.. better than a bunch of rust I suppose.

Run it by a paint shop, they might be able to get it looking presentable without a ton of work.

Assuming it's both single stage, they might be able to give it a bit of a wetsand and polish to help the transition there, but disassembly required. At that point, I'd be tempted to just reshoot the fenders...

A little solvent cleaned up some of the excess caulk - looks ok from a few feet away. Needs work and appreciate the advice.
