Does anybody make 1/4" steel full sides and corners for 40's? I'm talking about the sides/corners that you can get for heeps by places like Genright and Poison Spyder Customs (used to). It seems like someone would make a killing producing these cause it seems like every cruiser out there has rust in this area and the majority of guys put on the stupid aluminum "shiny" diamondplate corners (sorry if I offended anybody ). In fact I had a brand new set I gave away for free. I saw a 40 today that had them (thick metal corners) and asked the owner about them and he had a buddy from a local shop make them for him. Unfortunately the shop is closed now, but the guy said he had the same problem trying to find them and just lucked out. I know there are a few companies that make replacement panels but I'm looking for the thick bolt over stock panel kind.

I brought up the idea of getting some custom ones made on my local forum (RisingSun club in Colorado) and pretty much everyone suggested buying the Budbuilt ones. Unless you have a buddy that can do the work for free I don't think it will be any cheaper. Here is the thread if you want to take a look:

There is also the possibility of making your own by heating the plate and bending it on the truck. I know I read about someone making them like this out of 1/8" plate, not the best looking but good enough for a trail rig.

After looking into these, it looks as though they are meant to replace the corners which I just did with CCOT replacement panels.......looks like I'll be checking out some local metal shops.

I had this same scenario and a guy on mud had a set sitting there and was going to hold them up to his current stock quarters to tell me how they would line up and he never replied back. I can only imagine they would slightly come up short on the marker light, the gas tank filler, and ?? I searched and searched and never found them! Good luck though
