Does anybody know where I can find blank keys for a 1985 fj60? That is, if there are any :p

Is it a copy of the original key? Thats what im looking for

yes but the original key can't be to worn down or they can't copy it.. I don't think blanks are a problem, have you called the dealership?

No, but I have a spare key that I use. Im trying to find an original blank so I can cut it for use. Would the dealership have it?

If I remember correctly, you should have a number on your passenger lock cylinder. With that number the dealership could recreate a new one for you. But I might be wrong, so anyone confirm?

Any locksmith will have them. TR-33 blank IIRC.

It would be great if this is true.

The Toyota dealer can order an original blank (at least a few years ago they could) with the Toyota letters on the key.

Yes, it's true. Passenger lock only. But the idiots at my dealer couldn't cut the key right and used the wrong blank. I had to take that blank to a locksmith and get the proper key cut.

My dealership ordered me two blanks and cut to fit with the Toyota logo on them. no problems

Not to hijack this thread, but does the lift gate use a different key than the front doors?
No? is your lift gate original to your body?

Yes, or at least it appears to be. It's the same color as the body and it hasn't been painted. It will not turn when I use the same key I use to unlock the other doors or start the car.

Just go to your local flea market and there will probably be someone there that can make you a new key for only a few dollars.
My parents like going to flea markets, and the last one they went to, my Dad got the spare I gave to him copied for $4. Other than being a little long, it works just as good, if not better than the old keys.

some parts departments will give you keys at least the ones I have dealt with. But then again maybe I buy too much from there.

I work for Hillman and we stock lowes and walmarts and Aces key machines, I know for sure that lowes carries the toyota blank. I copied mine but due to the original being worn the new one is much more crisp so it doesn't work, but as a cruiser head I am going to try and smooth down the edges and round it down a little so that it will work. But they do have the blank for ya

so the dealership should have the ORIGINAL key blank? mines golden and said toyota motor on it. they would carry that?

That's the original "spare"

My FJ60 came with two black capped keys and one bare key. I assume this to be true about all FJ60's

I'm hoping the dealer can order the black capped ones. Mine is worn down.

If you're cool like me, you still have the keyring that came with the car. It has a little aluminum tag with the key code on it. The dealer also had some tags on it with lot number, color, model, and stuff like that. :D
