Yes I know another post..... On the SOLID FAN!!! LOL) :o

Any way an update on the install.

#1. The turbo is cooler, after driving off road and giving the old 74 a work out, I can put my hand on the turbo for about 7 sec's before it hurts...Hope you like my method here

#2. Sometimes after rolling down a steep hill the thermostat closes, when it re-opens there is sometimes a little spike on the temp gauge... No spike any more.;p

#3. No noticeable power loss :grinpimp:

#4. No extra noise

#5. Thermostat is working well keeping a correct consistent temp

mmm dude .. I don't think so .. ! :grinpimp:

interesting thread for sure....here are some of my observations

When my fj62 had the 3fe I was having some cooling problems(big suprise!!)anyways I changed thermostat, coolant, flushed rad and complete system...still no fixy.

I was heading on vacation and was running out of time , i decided to change the cooling clutch with a new one...so I ordered one and it was not going to arrive in time for me to change.

but I had time to remove my original one and drill and bolt it ! I was not going to let this stop my vacation !!!

It worked ! she did not overheat even pulling a trailer...BUT it was as noisy as hell and you could here it "stalling" at high speeds.

I put the new cooling clutch on and it was fine after that.

One question about the solid coupling kit...does it use the same fan ? or is it a finer pitch to spin easier and not stall?

Yes i think its an very interesting thread as well, its amazing the twists and turns of peoples opinion. Its not as fancy as a inter cooler or a turbo, or even an engine swap, which of course also have there place.... We all have different levals of ability, and the appeal of the above subject, is its simplicity.

In my case I used the same fan. There was a small adaption . . . I had to carefully drill out using a drill press the threads that where on the steel plate which is attached to the fan. Then the bolts simply went through the fan plate into the adapter plate and bolted in, then the adapter plate in turn bolted to the spacer and spacer to a pulley. Obviously check to see if your fan has the correct bolt pattern for the adapter plate . . .

Edit.. Thanks for your observations.
