Hi, since the shifting instructions on my BJ74 are in japanese I thought I'd ask here.

Into 4hi it seems like a push of the button anytime with the hubs locked although it feels smoother with the vehicle in motion. Into 4low it seems best to be stationary with the AT in N, is this right? I've been leaving the 4hi switch on to get into 4low as well, also right?

Then there's the cable diff locks, I've no idea there if the vehicle should be rolling or not, in N or not. When I pull the levers the lights come on but the levers don't go fully horizontal, just a bit past 45 deg. is this normal?

Thanks for the help.

I never want to be in motion when I shift from 2H to 4H. Yes, it can be safely done and a couple of mudders can chime in with the specs. IMO, I just want to make sure everything is working properly before I trust things to be working properly. i.e. driving on snow covered, icy roads.

I hope I'm reading your post right, are you asking can you shift from 4H to 4L on the go? No.. I hope you didn't try this?!?!?! Your transfercase will suffer badly if you try this. No, you must stop all motion to safely transfer from 4H to 4L.

Also, do not put your lockers on while moving, really really bad idea. No idea how lockers work with an AT so i'll let someone else give you a hand with turning them on.
