Well the driver's side window on my BJ74 decided to go down but now won't go back up. I've had to unbolt the whole gear and motor assembly so that it's loose from the door itself but still attached to the window, then clamp and ductape the window up in place (god I miss the crank windows in my old BJ70....). The strange thing is that when I press the switch to go down, the voltage indicator in the gauge cluster registers that the switch is drawing power. But when I press up on the switch, there is no indication from the voltage indicator that there is any draw of power. Now could this mean that the cause is the switch itself or possibly the motor? I've had the switch apart and it's a pretty straight forward contact design and everything seems to be in good shape.

If it ends up being the motor, is there at least a way I can get the window back up properly so that it is secure?

Yeah that would be nice, but right now I just need to get the window back up, this rain is getting to be a bit of an issue lol.

I think the culprit may be the box pictured below. A piece of the printed circuitboard on the back of it seems to be damaged. I can't seem to find it in the Toyota EPC though so I'm not sure what to call it.

In the meantime that you have the power window apart, jam a 1x2 bit of wood under the window so that it will be fixed close. At leats you'll be able to drive about with reasonable security.

try

You should try soldering a wire over that damage on the circuitboard. If u are lucky the problem is solved but perhaps the circuit will burn again.

Then look for a reason for the damage before plugging in a new box.

Maybe damaged wires between the door and the body or broken motor.

Or try those window defroster repair kits where you brush it on.

We've a few boxes full of relays, switches, and stuff like that. If your fix does not work, shoot Sheldon a note at info@gscruiserparts.com

Thanks Greg, I've fired an email off to Sheldon. I determined that the window motor is fine and that it is the little red box that's causing the problem.
