Thinking of using this kind of air filter to free up some space under my hood for a aux battery....

Yes lots of threads on K&N air filters... But would like more info on freeing up space for a aux battery under hood...

Once more ... THANKS...

I'm not a big fan of the K&N filter being your primary and only filter for the long haul, GB. Short term use or for the street only, they would be okay (I still wouldn't put one in mine)...but once you hit gravel roads and such, you will probably find a lot of fine dust particles getting through to your turbo and beyond.

I recently saw an install of three Optima batteries under a BJ74 hood, and all three fit in a row...on the existing battery side. Just make a new tray bottom. Was in Behemoth's BJ74.

Sounds like a plan

Would you use a solar converter for the aux charge?

Thanks

GB

edit... And a isolator

K&N's are high air flow filters, made to let air through fast and filter decent. I used to use them on my honda 4 wheelers and found that top end last alot longer with a standard foam type filter rather than a k&N. After having mine for about a year I could hold it up to a light and see light coming through tiny holes in the filter media.

highly over rated, other then for a racing application!

Yes, the solar converter would be a great charger (isloate and charge control the battery), however any somewhat efficient converter would do...
