When installing a 3B out of a BJ70 into a FJ40, is it possible to use the motor mounts and the mounting brackets from the BJ70 in the 40?

The 1984 BJ42 had a different setup (show below), and I guess by looking the parts don't mix & match (motor mounts from BJ42 with mounting brackets from BJ70 = problem). It looks from the EPC diagrams like the BJ42 setup uses a different angle and a lower coupling point, and the widthe of the brackets appears wider on the BJ70.

Any assistance would be helpful.

Whether you use the bracket and mounts from a 42 or the 70 you will have to remove the mounts from your 40 frame they will not be useable.
Easiest way to figure out would be lower the 3B into engine bay with the 70 brackets on and measure up to see if they line up with the frame rails if not you will have to go with the 3B brackets and mounts.
If you have the 70 measurement rail-rail then measure your 40 this will give you a better idea, depending on your fab skills you can make the frame bracket and use the 70 mounts.

686mm frame width on the 40, 640 on the 70. looks like i need to add 2 inches to the frame mounts to make it work.

i'll be checking the angles of the 42 frame mounts against the 70 motor mounts and hope they match and my job will be easy. if not i'll have to be a fabbin'.

as noted in this post, the motor mounts are placed differently on the block using different spacing i assume.

any photos would be nice here from a bj42 setup if anyone has them.

I was suprised at the differances.

The rigid engine mounts on the 85 bj60 are further aft on the block, about 2 inches , than on the 84 bj60. The rigid mounts for the 85 are angled up where as the 84 are angled down! The 85 is similar to the bj70 shown above.
The engine isolator mounts are also totally different, for the 85 they look like the 70 and for the 84 they look like the 40 above. The later mounts look far superior as the 85 mounts have over 500000 km and are still good and the 84 only had 356000km and fell apart while removing the engine!
I was lucky cause my 3b came from a 60 and went into a 62 so it was just a matter of transfering the frame portion mount. You should just fab some new fram portion mounts and be done with it.
There are numerous differences other than this also.

70 series motor mounts are different in that the bolts don't "line up" as they do on the 40 series mounts. I tried to use my BJ70 rubber mounts with the BJ40 frame horns but they weren't even close. If you are making your own frame mounts for the engine, you could make it work.
