BJ60 12 Volt Alt. Question

Do the alt. from a BJ60 have the regulators built in? Also, is the output (amps/voltage) of a BJ60 alt. different than the alt. for a 12 volt FJ60?
 
In my case HJ-60 comes with external V regulator .. and I thought is the same stuff that FJ Cruisers .. I thought the diference was the alternator .. mine with 55 or 60 amps .. and the FJ maybe more.
 
Big difference is the BJ alt has a vacuum pump on the basckside.

The regulators on the bj60 came either internal or external mounted below the or inbetween the aircleaner area.
 
Thanks, I'm trying to figure out how to go from 24volts to 12volts...

Thanks Tapage & BB. I saw the light and bought an 81 BJ42 after I was knee deep in an 81 FJ40 restoration. I don't want to abandon the FJ40 restoration, just changing the direction a bit ;) Since I have most of the 12volt odds and ends, it's just a matter of getting the correct relays and such from a BJ60. If the only difference in the BJ60 alt. and the FJ60/40 alt. is the vac. pump then I'm guessing I'll be okay to use the BJ60 alt. without frying my 12 electrics from my FJ40. I was thinking, maybe I could combine my FJ40's alt. with the BJ42's alt. to get what I need for a system running two 12 volt batteries in parallel. I don't think it's worth the trouble though. Probably better off finding a BJ60 alt. Will higher amps associated with running two 12volt batteries in parallel be an issue for my FJ40 electronics/wiring?

Ok, well I have a spare alt for my BJ60, but it doesn't have a vacuum pump on it. So if my Vacuum pump were to fail, I would be looking for other options. Even electric would be considered.

Use a big ass delco 200 amp alt (12v) and go find a electric vacuum pump off a dodge.
IMOP The toyota alts are small output. Not to mention pricey,

From what I understand, the answer to internal or external regulator depends on the year. I don't have a manual with me but I think it was somewhere around '85 that Toyota switched to internal IC regulators.

My '82 is internally regulated. I've replaced two so I know!!

my spare 82bj60 alternator has a external regulator and from looking at my 82bj60 truck, it also has a external regulator! my 85bj60 is internal.

Well then it must be a change during the '82 model year. I've had my truck since 90,000 kM and 1989 and the wiring is all original and unmolested. I think my truck is either a March or May 1982 production
 
yes, a diesel does not create vacumn so a mechanical means must be found. the vacumn pump supplys vacum to the brakes, power assisted clutch and the VSV systems...

I got an 84 with internal.
