my question is if i was to buy a 4inch fj40 lift kit can i just use the rear single 44 spring with the eyes and attach it to the rest of the lift leaf pack ???? and will it still have lift??? cheers

Generally speaking, yes. You can mix and match leaf springs to make a custom pack. Pay attention to bushing diameter and pin sizes, as well as spring center pin location.

The spring will not operate like it should if you do this... The 44 had the same rear spring pack as the 45 series... Your second leaf will be much shorter than the top leaf with eyes... Plus you'll want a military wrap just to be safe...

My advice is to try and find a 45 spring with the lift you want, or order custom from someone like Alcan to make sure you have the right specs...

Alcan made me some rear springs for my 44 years ago and they were great.
