Since I imagine it's nearly impossible to actually find one of these rear seats (see pictures below), my question is related but different:

Has anyone used an existing one to recreate them? In terms of frame and cushion, it can't be THAT difficult to do, right? Has this already been done? Perhaps there's not enough interest to go to the trouble? Does anyone have specs on these?

For me, with a Troopy and two young children I would love to have this rear seat, and behind it, a row of side-facing benches - perfect!

Any information on these rear seats - existing or recreations - would be great. My other options are the Bestop fold-'n-tumble (don't love it) or install two front-facing buckets seats. I would go with the buckets but can't find something I think is sufficiently period correct to work. I'm not interested in installing two Recaros that look more appropriate for a tweaked Mitsubishi drift car.

Thought/suggestions are appreciated.

This is probably just as fruitless given you're in NA, but this is my BJ74 rear seat. It's the same as a BJ/FJ/70/71/73. Dimensionally the 7x series is close to the 4x, so it might just need a few tweaks to slot right in.

Thanks

Daniel,

Thanks for the info. And is that a full fold forward? Just the back? It doesn't look like it splits (50/50 or otherwise), right?

Best,
Evan

Hey Evan,

It folds fully forward, very compact. No 50/50 split. Want more pics?
