BJ 74 Temperature gauge broken-- help please

Picked up a 88 BJ74 the other day.
Sweet truck. The temp gauge is not working on it.
Is this a common problem?
Any one out there with a FSM? How do I test the temperature sensor?

I haven't had a Land Cruiser for a little while now...but if I remember correctly, there are two senders coming out of the thermostat housing of your 13B-T. The Green plastic square connector should be for your glow screen timer, and the skinny white connector next to it with the single wire should be for the temp sensor.

Why don't you take that skinny connector off for the temp sensor, insert a wire into it and ground it and see if your gauge is actually working or not?
