BJ 46 Vin Numbers and Years (1 Viewer)

I have been doing some research for a side project I am working on and am in search of BJ 46 Vin #

So far I have :

BJ46-00910131 is the highest number I have found but it was on a European LHD FST tagged as a 1981 which makes no sense.

BJ46-000334 is the Earliest I have found which is tagged as a 1983

I was of the understanding that BJ46's where a late 82 to 84 sort of Truck so started digging to see what I could find out.

I have seen a few MWB Guru's bouncing around on here so maybe they can give me some more info .

Here is BJ46-001152 which is the latest I have seen being a Nov 84 from what I can find out

Interesting that you have 1174 as Sep 84 meaning 1152 is probably Sep 84 not Nov 84.

Do you have any pictures of 1174 ?

So the CKD with the BJ46....91 in europe in 81 means the BJ46 option was out as a CKD a year or so before the actual model release ? Or was the BJ46 model out before 83 ?

Just found BJ46000358 in Japan if anyone is looking for a cool ride. Starting at just under $800 USD looks to have some rust and missing a few things such as the PTO etc.

As I mentioned in the table the 91xxx is a regular vin number from 1981 for Europe at least.

Yeah but I was surprised to see them start with the BJ46 letters and be a 3B engine where as JDM in 1981 had the B then the 2B and didn't seem to get the 3B till late 82 early 83

In the table you can see that the regular vin number bj46-0000010 they started from August 1982, it’s exactly the start of production for Japan

For General market and Europe the start was in 1980

Makes you wonder what place the 2B played in the line up if the 3B was already out in 1980

2B was only in Japan and stayed until Sep 1982. All other markets receive 3B in Sep 1980

The BJ46 came with white spoke wheels in Europe same as the BJ42.
No split rims in 1981 and later.

I believe it’s too fast decision.
My guess it’s an European BJ46 restored and upgraded to hard top
European vin + model code (W), European mirrors; heater; visible parts of soft top

Look at the dash it´s the old one .,,, pretty sure it´s SA.
The BJ42 and 46 dashboards are different,

That one above was European according to seller and has a fiberglass roof and sides as it was an FST.
